Hi everyone,
Consent form This is a reminder for all to hand in your consent forms for the Orientation Camp during next practice, the 11th of Feburary. For those who did not receive a copy, please do download a copy of this consent form from under the 'Files' section, and similarly hand it in during next practice.
Practices Practice next week will be held on Monday and Wednesday, the 11th and 13th of Feburary. Practice will start at 330 sharp at LT3, so please be punctual. For practice on wednesday, furthur updates will be given on Monday practice itself, so do take note.

Sectionals on Wednesday As Wednesday is Staff Training Day, choir has been rescheduled to take place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. It will be sectionals all the way and attendance is as usual. New Members The new members (Sec 1s and 3 scholars) will be joining us for practice in the coming Monday. Please be hospitable towards them and helpful. After all, you are seniors and are to be more experienced than they are. Please try to separate them so we won't have clusters of new members standing together.

Farewell & Alumni Gathering This year's Farewell & Alumni Gathering for RV will take place on the 29th of Dec, Saturday. It will start at 4.00pm and is expected to end at around 9.00pm.
This event is compulsory for ALL RV members to attend, and absence can only be accounted for with valid reasons. However, we do understand that many of us might be having holidays overseas, etc. Therefore, we will need all of you guys to contact your SLs (via e-mail, phone, etc) to report your availability on the 29th of Dec as soon as you have received this notification, and latest by 22nd of Dec . We do need to know the expected attendance on that day as dinner will be catered.

Hi all,
Practices Tuesday There will be combined practice on Tuesday, 30th October 2007. Please report to the LT3 at 2.15 pm. Practice will end about 5.30 pm. Secondary 4s taking HMT 'O' Levels on the next day are excused from this practice.
Thursday There will be practice for ALL choir members (including Sec 4s) on Thursday, 1st November 2007. Times and venue will be confirmed by Tuesday's practice and through e-mail. Please check back then.
Choir Exchange Consent Forms Consent forms for the Raffles Choirs Exchange will be distributed on Tuesday's practice. Please return them to your SLs on Thursday practice. Once again, the Exchange will be held on Monday, 19th November 2007.
Choir Day Camp There will be a day camp for ALL choir members (including Sec 4s) on Tuesday, 27th November 2007. Please try to keep this day free as there have been many meaningful events planned for that camp. Consent forms will be distributed soon.

Updates: Term 4 Week 7
Hi all,
Practice Practice this week will be on Monday and Wednesday.
On Monday, report to LT3 at 2.15 pm. Practice is likely to end around 5.30 p.m. Plese be punctual and inform your SLs if you will be late because you have to check your MEP scripts.
On Wednesday, report to the 2nd floor classrooms at the S Rajaratnam Block Junior Block for sectionals at 2.15 pm. Practice will end about 6.00 pm. Please bring along all your concert pieces during practice.
Week 8 Practice Because of some constraints, practice in the following week (Week 8) will be changed to Tuesday and Thursday. Please keep the afternoons free. Further details will be sent through a separate e-mail once confirmed. If you cannot make it because of valid reasons, please notify your SLs on Monday practice.
Holiday Practices Because of the concert on 25th, please note that there will be regular practice in the holidays as follows:

Friday: The SYF day itself. Further details on this will be provided a.s.a.p, as arrangements with the school are being finalised.
As it is the final lap before SYF, our practices may drag beyond the timings fixed before. As such, we hope that everyone will understand the need behing the longer practice hours. Also, please rememer to get the necessary medication required should you fall ill. Boost your immunity by eating Vitamin C tablets. Avoid public areas like shopping malls, to prevent catching any of the ongoing bugs that are spreading around.

Updates for Term 2, Week 4
Monday: Practice will be as usual, at LT3 from 3.30pm to ~6.30pm.
Wednesday: You will be released from your classes at 11.50am (for SYF group). There will be no time for lunch. As such, please have a heavy recess. Place your bags in the music lab and meet under the Rajaratnam Block at 12 noon to board the bus to VCH for the exchange. You will be given a short break after you return to school from the exchange. As such, do bring along light snacks if you wish, as time will be given for you to consume them. After the exchange, combined practice will resume until 7pm.
Friday: Although it is a school holiday, there will be combined practice. Meet at LT3 at 9am for practice. Practice will end at ~1pm.
Saturday: There will be no morning sectionals. Meet at 2pm at the circular area outside LT3. Dinner will be provided. Please be reminded that this is another chance for us to prepare ourselves before SYF, and as such, let's do our best to perform for this concert.

Choir Updates regarding Recording and Extra Combined Practice
Extra Combined practice/sectionals In light of the upcoming SYF competition, the choir has to ready itself to be at its peak performance. Details for the upcoming practice for the SYF group on Saturday, 24th March are as follows: Compulsory sectionals will begin at 12pm, at the Rajaratnam Block Classrooms. Lunch will be on your own. Be back in LT3 at 2.30pm for combined. Combined should end at 5pm
Soundcheck and Recording on Monday For the soundcheck, both SYF and non-SYF members will be attending the session, at the Victoria Concert Hall on the 26th of March.
You will be dismissed from your classes at 11.45am. Please have a quick bite, and also place your bags at the music lab before 12.15pm. You will leave your bags there. However, do take along your scores and water bottles. You must report to the Ground Floor of the Rajaratnam Block by 12.15pm, without your bags. It is advisable to have a heavy recess, as it is difficult to sing on a full stomach. From VCH, a bus will ferry all choir members back to RI at around 3.30pm. Normal combined practice will resume.
Please Note the changes to the make up session to the CCT Secondary 1 pupils, meet at LT3 at 3.30pm on Wednesday (28 Mar) on the dot. The paper will commence at 3.30pm, and no extra time will be given for late comers. Similarly, Secondary 3 and 4 pupils, please meet at the AVT/LT2 (the venue has yet to be decided, but the same venue will be used for both levels) on Wednesday (28 Mar) also at 3.30pm. The same rule applies.
Report to LT3 at 4.30pm right after your tests.
Secondary 2 pupils, you are to have your paper on Friday, 30th March. However, the venue and timing will only be released, most likely on Monday.
Also, this is another reminder for all choir members to prepare your compeition attire (black shoes, long sleeve white shirt, long school pants (white) )

Choir Practice: 19th and 21st March 2007 UPDATED!
The soundcheck next Monday (26th March) will be at VCH, for the SYF group. The following are details: 12.00pm: Dismissal from class for Lunch. Have a quick bite, and don't eat a heavy lunch. A heavier recess is prefered. 12.30pm: Meet in LT3 on time. Once the entire choir is present, we will board the bus to go to VCH. Remember that every member counts, and we all have to do our part to be on time by reporting at 12.30pm or earlier to LT3.
After the recording, we will return to RI for choir practice. Practice on 26th, Monday should end at 6.30pm.

Practice on Monday will be at LT3, from 3.35 pm to 6.30 pm. Practice on Wednesday will begin at 2nd Floor or Rajaratnam Block with sectionals, at 3.35 pm. It will end at LT3 at 7 pm.
Regarding the practice on this coming Friday (after CNY celebrations in school), it will be held an hour after the celebrations end. During this one hour, please have your lunch. Sectionals thereafter will commence for 3 hours. As of now, the celebrations are likely to end off at 10 am. Brunch, will then be from 10 am to 11 am, and sectionals from 11 am to 2 pm. However, the timing is subject to change, depending on when the celebrations end. There will be auditions held for SYF selection on the week that follows Chinese New Year (most probably next week). As such, your SLs will hold mock auditions during sectionals. It is also advisable to ask your SLs if you have any queries regarding the three songs.
Also, do take care of your health, even though CNY season would mean the annual intake of all the heaty foods. Rest earlier and drink plenty of water.
Other information to note For those who will be selected for SYF 2007, there will be a practice session (sound check @ venue) on 26th March, at 1.15pm to 3.15pm at Victoria Concert Hall. This will only be for those who will be performing for SYF, and not for the whole choir.

Choir Practices: 5th Feburary and 7th Feburary 2007
Monday: Practice will be at LT3, from 3.35 pm to 6.30 pm. Meet at LT3 Wednesday: Practice will commence at 3.35pm. Meet at the 2nd floor of the Rajaratnam Block at 3.35pm for practice. Practice will end at 7 pm.
Please memorise "Everyone Sang" by Monday's practice! Also, inform your SLs if you cannot make it for any practice, and try to be punctual. Do remember that individuals who are ill must put on a mask, and also remember to take your vitamin C tablets and lozenges (if there is a need to).

There are four parts to this post!
Choir Sectionals: 27th January 2007, Saturday There will be sectionals on the abovementioned date. Each section's timing and venue will vary, so please do check with your SLs. If for any reason you are unable to attend, please inform your SLs of the reason why so.
On the whole, the earliest time you guys can begin is at 9am, and the latest time you can end at is 2pm. Your section's timing will be slotted in between this 5 hour period, and it will vary from section to section. Do check with your SLs.
Choir Practices: 29th January and 31st January 2007 Monday: Choir practice will begin at 3.35pm and end at 6.30pm. Please report at LT3 promptly, so as to begin at 3.35 on the dot.
Wednesday: Choir practice will begin at 3.35pm and end at 6.30pm. However, please do note the change: reporting venue for Wednesday will be at the 2nd floor of Raja Block, at your respective classrooms (with the exception of altos). Each section will be allocated a classroom to report at for sectionals. Please note that sectionals will begin at the classrooms at 3.35pm on the dot, following which your SLs will bring you to the combined session.

Other Information All members are reminded to take their daily supplement of vitamin C tablets, so as to ensure that their immunity is strengthened, to prevent you guys from falling ill. Also, do purchase anti-bacterial lozenges (which can be bought from Guardian or other pharmaceutical stores).
If you happen to be ill on a choir practice and wish to rest behind the LT, you are reminded to bring along a mask, so as to prevent other members from falling ill.
Also, the SCs will be posting information via the egroups on details to look out for when going through your scores at home. We hope that this will aid you when practicing on your own time.
Communications System Basically, with this new system, there will be 3 avenues through which you can check on upcoming choir info.
1) Email: Check your email on Sunday, regarding information that pertains to the practice in the week ahead. The email will arrive from the yahoo e-groups.
2) Blog: Check the blog (rafflesvoices.blogspot.com) regularly. All email-ed info will be posted here too. You can save this webpage under your bookmarks and check it frequently, so as to be in the know.
3) Phone: Call or SMS your SLs, so as to ensure you know what will be coming up. If you are unsure of anything or have clarifications, feel free to call. Their numbers are avaliable from the files section > contact list, in the yahoo groups.

Choir practices will now be held at LT3and NOT the design center.
Please be at LT3 at 3.30pm promptly for all practices.
The practice on 22nd, Monday will be from 3.30pm to 6.30pm, while the practice on 24th, Wednesday will be from 3.30pm to 7pm. Do note the differences in timings.
For those who have yet to return their blazers, you are required to dry clean them and return them a.s.a.p, preferably by 22nd, Monday.

Welcome all to the new year! Practice will resume on the 3rd of January (first day of school) from 3.30pm to 6.30pm.

Update on Trip: 14th December 2006 updated again
Choir Practices and Notices The next choir practice will be on the 18th December 2006. This practice is for all secondary 1 to 3 members of the year 2006. Both tour and non-tour will be required to attend, with the exception of the Sec 4s of 2006. Practice will begin at 9 am. More updates will be provided on the timing asap. If you are unable to attend, do inform your SLs and tell them the reason why so.
Practice will end latest by 1pm. Practice is at the design center.
All tour-goers, do remember to burn your pictures (if you have any) into a CD and hand it to Yong Feng on the next choir practice.
Also, please inform your SLs of the dates which you will not be free on in the month of December 2006.
Blazer Collection Please note that the practice on 18th December 2006 will also be the date for Blazer Collection for those who went on tour. Do bring your blazers to practice.

Concert cum Soundcheck: 26th November 2006 (updated)
Sound check at the VCH will commence at 12.30pm, until 2.30 pm. However, do report there by 12pm, so as to facilitate maximum usage of time. The entire concert should end by 5pm, though we may have to stay back later to clean up.
Your SLs will brief you should they want warmups before the sound check session. As of now, basses will be having theirs at 11.30 am.
Please report to the VCH in concert attire (choir badge, tie, long sleeve shirt, long white pants, black socks, black shoes, blazer). There will not be time for you guys to change there.
Also, remember to bring water and go through your scores on the 25th (saturday), as there will not be sectionals on that day. It would also be advisable to begin packing for the trip now, as we will be leaving on the 29th.

Choir Practice: 17th November 2006, Friday [IMPORTANT]
This concerns both tour and non-tour, so please do read.
NON-TOUR (Secondary 1-3 of 2006): 1) Be at the design center by 9am to collect your SYF scores for 2007. Miss Chiang will brief you on the score and you guys may go through it with her.
2) Also, if any of you are interested in the "Prelude to advent" Concert Tickets, please approach Yisheng or Readon to tell them your orders. (Stalls at $12, Circle at $15, 26th Nov 3.15pm to 4.30pm, RV tour group will be performing)
TOUR: 1) Practice will be as follows: Sectionals from 8.30 am to 10.30 am Combined from 10.30 am to 3 pm. There will be a short break for lunch (not an hour long), so it would be advisable to pack your own food (eg: sandwiches, or non-dairy products, ie: no cheese or mayo)
2) Bring your forms for the trip, signed. Please do write down your blood type (important) on the forms, as well as your handphone numbers (should you be bringing them on the trip)
3) Reflections: please write/type out a short reflection on what you want out of the trip and hand it to your SLs on this practice during sectionals.
4) Tell your SLs your ticket orders for Prelude to Advent.

Choir Practice: 10th November 2006 change in timing
- For tour-goers - Design Center
- Your SLs will call to tell you about your specific sectional time (different individuals will be allocated to different time slots) The two time slots are (generally) 9am-11am and 10am to 11am, depending on what your SLs tell you. However, please be ready to come for the 9am slot if your SLs tell you to do so.
- Lunch will be from 11am to 12pm - Practice (combined) will be from 12pm to 4pm.

Okay guys the above was the practice dates and times and also, a brief intro to the upcoming concert on 26th November. As I believe all of you would understand, we have 1 month left. 1 month left before we are going out there. We hope that you guys will give it all, and that at the end of this journey, we will emerge, satisfied intrinsically within ourselves (: Remember, we are a team, and we have got to make this work together.
Take care of yourselves. Its the holidays, but don't fall ill. We wouldn't want to go there, short of people with hoarse voices yeah. Everyone matters.
Your SLs may call you guys back over the holidays should we need the extra practices to boost our standards, so be prepared to come back on dates that may have not been listed above.
